Size Guide

DETAILS:

The Midnight Lehenga is a navy blue lucknowi (also known as chikankari) georgette skirt with white cutdana work. The blouse is a matching navy blue lucknowi bustier style cut. The look is paired with an off white scalloped georgette lucknowi dupatta with matching highlighting.

This is a Made to Order piece. Due to the COVID-19 case spike in India, our usual estimated arrival time of 6-8 weeks from date of purchase is currently 8-12 weeks. If that changes, we will reach out. Please note there will be variations in this fabric, including the scalloping on the dupatta. Three (3) pieces come with this item - a skirt, blouse, and dupatta.

  • This piece is made from lucknowi or chikankari fabric. Chikan literally means embroidery and the style of the fabric comes from the embroidery.

Many accounts say Noor Jahan, the wife of Mughal emperor Jahangir, introduced Chikan, which was originally a Persian art, to India in the 17th century.

Originally the embroidery was done on muslim or mulmul fabric, but it is now done on a variety of fabrics. This lehenga is made with a georgette chikankari fabric.

Chikankari artisans are all over India, but Lucknow is the main center (hence the term "lucknowi fabric").
