This is a Made to Order piece. Due to the COVID-19 case spike in India, our usual estimated arrival time of 6-8 weeks from date of purchase is currently 8-12 weeks. If that changes, we will reach out. Please note there will be variations in this fabric - each item is unique! Two (2) pieces come with this item - an anarkali and dupatta.

  • This piece is made from lucknowi or chikankari fabric. Chikan literally means embroidery and the style of the fabric comes from the embroidery.

Many accounts say Noor Jahan, the wife of Mughal emperor Jahangir, introduced Chikan, which was originally a Persian art, to India in the 17th century.

Originally the embroidery was done on muslim or mulmul fabric, but it is now done on a variety of fabrics. This lehenga is made with a georgette chikankari fabric.

Chikankari artisans are all over India, but Lucknow is the main center (hence the term "lucknowi fabric").
