Amita Lehenga (Made to Order)

Size Guide

The Amita Lehenga takes lucknowi (also known as chikankari) fabric from Uttar Pradesh and meshes it with European flavor. The Grecian-style blouse is paired with a gorgeous lucknowi skirt highlighted with metallic and gold touches. The dupatta is georgette with lucknowi booti work and a border. Pair it with other variations in Western blouse styles for an even more fusion look.

Each piece in the Amita line of lehengas is unique. The lucknowi embroidery on the fabric for each new order will have slight variations. This lehenga can be made in other select colors. For a custom color order, please email

This is a Made to Order piece. Estimated arrival time is 6-8 weeks from date of purchase. Three (3) pieces come with this item - a skirt, blouse, and dupatta.

  • This piece is made from lucknowi or chikankari fabric. Chikan literally means embroidery and the style of the fabric comes from the embroidery.

Many accounts say Noor Jahan, the wife of Mughal emperor Jahangir, introduced Chikan, which was originally a Persian art, to India in the 17th century.

Originally the embroidery was done on muslim or mulmul fabric, but it is now done on a variety of fabrics. This lehenga is made with a georgette chikankari fabric.

Chikankari artisans are all over India, but Lucknow is the main center (hence the term "lucknowi fabric").
